Having a book published has been a lovely, if slightly surreal, experience. Last Christmas I was extremely nervous about how it would be received and if anyone would actually buy a copy. The reaction has been extremely positive and I have met and spoken to so many lovely people who have shared their own stories. Thank you to everyone who has bought copies and to all those that have left such positive reviews.

It has been a year of surprises, many due to the public vote.  Brexit, Trump, Boaty  McBoatface, Ed Balls going to Blackpool in ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ to name but a few!

Whilst I don’t avidly follow many reality TV Programmes, I do watch ‘I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here!’ and found this year’s run particularly encouraging in terms of the human spirit.

Firstly, because the winner, Scarlett Moffatt, was remarkably humble and self-effacing.

Secondly, because, on the whole, the camp was remarkably harmonious this year. It was no-less enjoyable for this and perhaps there is a lesson for TV producers here. The sight of people getting on, caring for and supporting one another was remarkably refreshing.

Lastly, we saw the last people standing in the process gradually exposed to their greatest fears and phobias. They tackled trials in the last couple of days which they would have not considered when they first arrived in the jungle.

It goes to show that if we tackle big challenges in small steps, with the support and encouragement of other people, so much is possible.

Have a very Happy Christmas and a Peaceful New Year!

James
